I'm here!

It's been a week now!!! Thank you all for your love and support. The pr.yers are felt. THANK YOU!

So I attempted posting a while back but the connection was not the greatest... Hope this time it works. Get ready, it's gonna be long =)

The welcome here was nice starting from immigration officers and on. The additional farewells in Uganda made my trek to my new home emotional. It was just a combination of so many emotions to a point of "misplacing" my excitement to be here. So the warm welcome from the people and the te@m were great reminders that sparked back the excitement to being here. Go.d is so good. Even during my flight, as certain enemy lies bombarded my mind, the Holy Sp1r1t would remind me of the plethora of confirmations of His calling in my life. Je5u5 sweetened my welcome with the people of this land, my new teammates that arrived just 40minutes after me (that really took care of me), and then the wonderful brunch welcome by the rest of my te@mm@tes here. Thank you Je5u5! By the way, all my luggage made it!

Oh but let me tell you about the interesting experience of life here during R@maD@n. My te@mmates and I arrived after 1:45am to the capital... the city seemed somewhat awake as we yearned for a bed. Sleep only lasted about three hours for us (5am-8am) because of travel wackness. We eventually continued our rest then a late lunch was in order. My kind friends went hunting for an open restaurant... Pretty much everything is closed in the day here during R@maD@n, but thankfully a Chinese restaurant was opened! Yeah! Apparently Chinese restaurants also continue their business here during the holidays... well at least in the capital.

Six o'clock came and we needed some fresh air so we ventured out to the city. Well the city was still quiet... only very few men on the street getting ready to break the fast. We were wondering if any taxis would drive by at all... but one did stop =) My friend asked for a ride to the KFC (yes folks we have one!) but the man said he was on his way to break the fast with his family and that we were going with him. Yeah somewhat of an invitation... he didn't ask, he just said we were going there. He said we would be saving money and was happy to take us. I could tell we all wanted to go but we knew that our night would be ending way past midnight if we went along with the man (and we had a plane to catch the next AM to get to our city).

After showing our appreciation and much apologizing he dropped us off. Nope, no chicken for us though, we opted on finding a local cafe-type place where we enjoyed amazing tea. Oh this tea is delish! (picture above is of us at the cafe) I don't know what it all has besides the herbs and the sweetened and condensed milk but it was perfect. Once we walked out of the cafe the city was ALIVE! It was like a party all over town after 8pm. Seriously, amazing to see the difference. Love it! It had been a ghost town at about 6pm (and way before that too) and then BAM! Pr.yer call then hustling and bustling all over town. Cars everywhere honking like crazy (honking is important on the road here, that's how you make yourself known or seen on the road) and people everywhere roaming the streets... men, women and children. Good times on my first day. So thankful I got to share it with my new friends here.

Hmmm... it's late. Past 1am... Yeah my roommie and I just laughed about how late we're up... I guess we're trying to get into the R@maD@n schedule. Ok going to bed after a great te@m retreat. Thanks for pr.yn for that too! =) Good night dear friends! Blessings to you all. I miss you all.
