Life here is never boring. I love it! Not just because of the lack of boredom... I love this place period but this is just an added bonus =) I wasn't gonna write about this, but today was full of these bonuses LOL!
I get to school early pretty much every day and just hang out by some benches until it's time to be in class. Some students do the same and today an early bird student, my classmate, was asked to help with a crazy cat that had invaded the teacher's lounge. Well this cat was not a friendly one and was set on staying in the lounge. When my friend tried grabbing it, the cat attacked viciously. I'm glad I didn't see the scene. The cat bit and would not let go of my friend's arm... Even my teacher was a bit traumatized... yeah, cats and dogs here are mostly sick and unfriendly. You just cannot even try to pet one.
Somehow I ended up being the one to take my friend to the hospital... Maybe it's the nurse in me that just responds to situations right away. Or the motherly me... Anyway how couldn't you, my poor friend was shaken up a bit. A good scrub with antibacterial soap was in order, and I mean a good-have-no-mercy scrub (Jennifer, I almost said what you always say, "This is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you.... wait, never mind." It made me laugh at that moment.). Then we left to the local children's hospital where one of my like-minded friends works.
We were told there was a limited number of rabies vaccines so we needed to purchase our own across the street. We then proceeded back to the hospital, and as my Dr. friend called out for a nurse I just went for it. Oh my poor friend didn't think I would but yes I did! Giving injections are easy, why not? And somehow I ended up with an audience of medical students, LOL! The funny thing is that they didn't know who I was and I look local so here's this local looking lady giving a straight up foreign looking guy an injection (wait, it was on his arm folks, just FYI). But I'm sure the med students figured it out once I opened my mouth to speak... nice to clear that one up since I didn't look like I was a nurse either. After another trip to the local pharmacy, where we ended up owing some cash (we weren't prepared for the cat attack, so now I know how much all that costs), we headed back to class only to find out we missed some important lesson material. Oh well at least it was only one out of four hours of class that we missed. Good thing I had my language helper meet with me today. And PTL for my other friend in class who helped me out as well.
So what happened to the cat?... I'm almost certain it's dead now. I hope so, or else it'll attack someone else. So that was my day today. Well, like I told my friend... I've been meaning to see that hospital for a while now. Maybe next time I'll get the grand tour... but without a patient.
Awww... life here is never boring. So love it here! I can't wait to speak the language, there's much to learn!
